Dona Ajuda
Fruta Feia

Every year, more than half of the food produced in the world is wasted and literally thrown away. The cooperative Fruta Feia was created to reverse this trend. This project aims to combat this inefficiency by creating an alternative market for “ugly” fruits and vegetables, with the goal of changing consumption patterns. A market that creates value for farmers and consumers while combating both food waste and the unnecessary expenditure of resources used in its production. Dona Ajuda provides its space every Tuesday to this cooperative.

Dress-a-Gril

Dress a Girl Around the World is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) founded in 2009 in the United States, with the mission of making dresses to donate to girls and shorts for boys in underserved countries, providing them with dignity, protection, and hope. This often translates into the protection of their bodies, preventing them from becoming victims of sexual crimes. We provide the space and equipment for a permanent Dress a Girl branch, where dresses and shorts are made using fabrics donated to Dona Ajuda.

The Vozes Book Club‘s main mission is to bring together a diverse audience around books and to bring voices that are not often central to Portuguese culture into the heart of the debate. Through discussions about literature, it also seeks to address current social, economic, and political issues, aiming to stimulate civic and democratic participation. Dona Ajuda provides the space for this club on one Saturday afternoon per month.
